Auxiliary cable connection to X5

I purchase the auxiliary cable part # 82110149390 for my 2002 X5 and connected it but still not able to read the signal from the radio when i connect my ipod.
Do i need to get dealer program something for the radio to see this signal now?

Are you tuning the radio to aux....the aux cable is built that the radio reads the cable not the ipod...as soon as you plug your aux cable to the radio an aux feature comes on automatic on the screen...if you dont see the feature something is wrong with the radio or wire...

Is there a way to make it work on the X5 with Professional CD in dash made before May 2002?

The 12 pin cable fits on the back of the radio ok but i will not get aux option because it was made May 02.

Keep an eye on ebay, you can usually pick something like this up relatively cheap; just might take a little time.

There have been a few members who have installed it in their ashtray area where there's a hole for the pen and some have also installed it inside the arm rest compartment. I am also trying to do this install as well. But will definitely try to see if I can put it in the ashtray area.
