My *%$# roundel peeled!

Weirdest thing-I just pulled into my garage and happened to look at my front hood roundel-85% of the paint/plastic coating has peeled off!
Most of the badge is an aluminum colored circle with the raised badge imprints. It must have happened recently, or I would have noticed.

Could it have happened due to going throught the automatic car wash the day before Thanksgiving? (Forgive me-I have sinnned-it wasn't even touchless, although I thought a pretty good one.)

Pete!

I just came home today and noticed my front roundel had peeled completely off. I took my car to work so the X sat outside in heavy winds all day. What was the outcome for you? That is, does our warranty cover this, or am I forced to buy new from Bimmian?

KS

Can be replaced under warranty.

Not 100% sure....but there is really nothing to steal. The plastic decal doesn't come off in one piece; it is very thin and cracks easily.

Funny you should mention this...Just had TWO stolen off of TWO e36's...One right after the other! It was for the trunk (boot) but it still made me sick...

Most likely, it just delaminated. I've had this happen on two prior Bimmers with higher mileage (~60+K). It's a ten buck part and a very easy replacement. It comes as one piece, the plastic backer and decal and clear cover. Held in place by two rubber grommets set in the hood.

Don't sweat it, and by all means have them warranty it if you're under 50K!

By the sound of my dealer, this peeling/delam is a moderately frequent problem. Easily covered under factory warranty. Thanks for the input.
