Got some spare parts WITH melted engravings....

These were *OEM equivalents* from one of the more popular parts sites.
Nothing special but these were just replacement sidemarker lights.

I recall reading about this, but on various area the part, they have taken a hot iron and just scribbled so that the plastic would not make the model/engravings legiable..
I can't fathom the time/cost in labor just to even do this to every piece that get's sold/shipped...

What's up with that...Anyone care to refresh my memory.

On a side note, I have ordered a *haul* of parts from a BMW dealer/parts supplier. It was dirt cheap...maybe too good to be true cheap. Parts have not shipped so at this point, I'm assuming they are just amassing parts from various sources. I'll give them 1 more week which would make it 14 days for them to ship.....or else I will cancel the order. I'm expecting OEM parts as OEM parts #'s were speced.

Might be they didn't make it through the quality control process to be sold to a dealer or something so they end up on the secondary market?

FWIW, on both the *same as OEM* listed part and the OEM part that came off the vehicle, both lenses were stamped FER on the lens housing with not a trace of a roundel anywhere....

The O Ring that is on the socket that mates to the Housing, that O Ring on the OEM was 2X thicker than than replacement I purchased. I'm too lazy to remove and compare, so I don't have comparative notes on the gasket itself....

Quick Edit.....I just checked the trash and while not holding them side by side, a unofficial review would be the OEM tailmarker had a equally thicker gasket than the replacement.

Next refresh part getting swapped - trunk struts.
