BMW X5 200 3.0diesel PROP SHAFT

hi, on my bmw x5 the prop shaft is gone, i took it to a mechanic and he said it has been damaged in several places such as the bracket and hinges etc and it not repairable, and i am better of buying a new one which is around £630.

has anyone else had their prop shaft gone on the x5? and kno of any solutions that can help it?

What year is your X5?With that sort of damage ,it seems like somethung foreign hit!
Its not usual for the prop-shaft to go like that and not a common problem at all.

its a 2004 x5, the bracket has worned out and the connection between the front and rear axle is become loose which is the major problem.

do you know the cause for this?

Front shaft, rear shaft, or both? By bracket and hinges, you mean the mobile joint found on the rear shaft?
Anyway, front and back axles are not quite connected between them and they don't need the shafts to keep them together (not loose). There are independent shafts coming out of the transfer case, so for instance, you can drive with the front shaft disconnected (removed completely) as RWD.

could the prop shaft of worned out because of excessive speeds, in terms of shifting gears fast and quick?

i also heard that a lot of torque can damage it as well, is this true? as i have my x5 chipped/mapped.
