Locked out!

Can anyone help with getting into my x5? Car was broken into 4 years ago and never bothered to fix the broken lock cylinder since it can be broken into again just as easily. Put in the blank cover. Never had a problem with the remotes unlocking the car. A few days ago parked the car outside and now it won't respond to the remote. I am pretty sure it is not a battery issue since that was changed less than a year ago. However I also tried my other key but no luck either. Is there any indicator lights that can show me it is not a power issue? No blink from clown nose or radio security light but I am not sure if those blink regularly.

Did a search to see any other way. There is some trick with the tail light but no details, can any one give me more info? The thread also advised if needing to break a window do the rear quarter, is that still the best bet?

Thanks in advance!
