I ended up getting my replaced under CPO a few months later...the fill cap is actually the drain plug too on this one I seem to remember. You have to use a fluid pump to get the fluid in there. At the dealer, they claim to use a 'special' filling unit that screws into that location. The way the pan is shaped, when its full, some fluid will start to leak out of the top of the drain (the drain is not flush with the bottom of the pan but sticks up a bit). Likewise, if you were to 'drain' the transmission, and then remove the pan, there would still be quite a bit of fluid in there.
