I regret to inform you all...

That I have decided to end my relationship with my 01 X5. I have not been too happy with all of the lingering issues and have spent over $4690 on repairs, warranty, and mods not counting my $29500 purchase price in a little over 4 months. The rear trunk lid doing its own thing the last few days was the last straw....every two weeks it is something...so then I think ok maybe it is just this one then reading all of the other issues on this board I realise it happens to all of them...it is just a matter of time before I will replace the other three window regulators. I can't wait for the rest of the CV boots to have to be done...it is just tiresome....I have no patients for this shit and cannot justify spending more than $50K on a new one....I should have brought this one CPO'ed but thought...hey it is a BMW!.....then I think I have not made one investment this year in the stock market the only other I did that was productive was build a new house and invest in the 401k...I have to be outta my freaking tree!

I am going to drive and CPO'ed GX470 and possibly trade it today.

Like going out with a 9.5 who is also a nympho, and owns a liqiour store...it is just not meant to last forever.....and then of course driving over to Lexus it will be saying to me "come on!...it is not personal....just give me one more chance"

I was planning on saving a few bucks and not going CPO but after reading your message I think CPO is the way to go with a used X5. Yeah, BMW is not very reliable but they do have a lot of soul. Take my 02 330i thank god its CPO I have already had the tranny changed out, one window regulator replaced and moonroof mechanism replaced.

"Hey it's a BMW" is exactly the reason you should have brought this one CPO'ed.
Sorry about all the issues and wish you the best.

Sorry to hear that. Have you thought about a CPO'd '04? I don't know for sure but you'd think that there might be less problems with the newer one and with the CPO you'd have some peace of mind. Plus you'd get the new Valvetronic V8.

Either way, don't be a stranger.

Lease a new 4.4 X5

The 2005/06 is just about perfect and with the right lease deal your cost is low.

I got a great lease deal last July, wait for BMW to bring back the program and trade the old X5

2001 X5 is known to have problems.

I don't understand why you are upset about the problems you are having with a used truck.

1) All used cars are a gamble, the first owner may not of maintained it or messed it up.

2) The early X5 is known to have problems.

3) A 2001 car will have problems do to wear and age.

Buy/Lease New or expect problems with a older car.
