my first x5 had the rear door latch problem, and 3 rear rims/wheels and 1 front wheel/rim. also the door handle paint failure.

that was it... pretty good when my x5 was built 08/0000 and was a first year/month production 4.4.....
This is my 2nd X5 as well. My first was an '01 which had its share of problems but that didn't deter me from getting another one. I guess everything is relative. A small problem to me and you could be a huge one for another. Oh well.

I am also on my 2nd X5. I had a 2001 X5 4.4 and had no major problems with it either. Sorry to hear that you are going the lexus way.

I wish you all the best, and good luck with whatever you decide. Either way, don't be a stranger. Be sure to pop in every now and then and say hi

Hey Rob,

that really sucks to hear about your problems and I know how you feel. I can't say I've had *that* many problems but the ones I have had are extremely frustrating. For instance, I'll be taking the X in tomorrow for the thrid time to try and resolve a noisy auxilliary water pump noise which has previously been *solved* but never seems to go away. I hope you end up buying a CPO'd 04/05 and hang in there, but if not, keep hanging around and you can rib us about our continuing problems as you drive your Lex around

I just bought my wife a 2005 MDX Touring with Navi about a month ago. It's a great vehicle for her, but it's no X5

They wont do you much good like that...look mint too. Freaking Caddy guy had the balls to offer me $21500 for it on an 05 loaded Escalade...I had to laugh...he priced it like it was a 3.0....took the keys and walked out.

I'd never listen to Kiss....I call it even...

"things i'd never buy....extasy, scalper tickets, lexus, infiniti...[/QUOTE]"

I drove a 98 LS400 for 4 years before the X5...here is how many times it broke during the course of 85K......1 time.........an oil leak...the guy said it was actually a freak thing...they never leak where the oil was coming from....I drove it 115miles a day for my commute and it never ever let me down not once. I even drove home in blizzard, white out conditions having to use the white reflectors on the side of road because I could not see...it is freaking rear wheel drive! Not a scratch....I once spun out on black ice heading head long into a bridge abutment at 50 miles an hour at 6am trying to catch a flight to DC to go to a meeting the traction control came on with feet to spare as I turned intinctively away from the spin...the car was straight as an arrow in seconds.... and of course my Dad who purchased it from me tells me everyday what a great car....blah blah blah...

So after the insult I recieved at the Caddy dealer, I drove home with radio down and just my thoughts...and there it was ....."c'mon...it was only a few bucks...I will be good...I promise...it was just a momentary lapse of reason"

Nothing cuises at 80 mph like and X5....

Just for the record I did go by the BMW stealer...only one CPO...a blk/blk non sport 03....Boring! I did say...call if he got any 4.6 03 CPO....
