Intake adjuster unit ticking

My intake adjuster unit is making a ticking sound when lightly loaded (slightly on the gas). Does this mean the unit is on it's way out? Or do I have a vacuum leak somewhere? Any advise would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Unit is on the way out. I recommend you change it

Thanks. Just changed it today and its all quiet now. The flap that controlled the intake was loose and had a lot of play in it, which was the caused of the noise.
