unfortunately, the singles are Not for the auto dip? I -seem- to have the cold weather package as I have heated seats, but I'm not really sure if I have heated mirrors. I -Do- have the auto-dip but don't really need it if it can save me waiting until October for delivery, just don't know what problems I might experience, codes or otherwise. Apologies if this is too specific for all, but I know I've had some trouble determining what I need to buy to replace my blotchy original mirror.

Premium package is where you get things like auto dimming rear view mirror and side mirrors. It also included dual climate, leather seats, and some other stuff. My mother in law's 2001 3.0 is a non-premium sport-package and CWP car. When road debris knocked out her side mirror, the shop replaced it with a dimming (electrochromatic) version. Since I had replaced her rear view with the auto dimming one from my E39, her driver's side mirror now dims! As far as I recall, heated windshield washer nozzles and heated side mirrors have been standard on most BMW's for some time. I think you'll find you can't buy an E53 side mirror glass that *isn't* heated. As for the retrofit and codes, you won't find any. The dimming mirror's only interface to the LCM is 'active' when the lights are on, and 'inactive' when they're off or the transmission is in reverse. I replaced the glass in my e39 with dimming, aspheric glass and then waited for two years (maybe three) before I ran the wires to my rear view mirror. It wasn't pre-wired. They now dim at night when the lights are on and the sensor on the rear view detects light brighter than the ambient light in the cabin. Hope that helps.
