If I was driving it 20-30k a year, or for a long commute, I would probably go for it, but we barely get 10k a year on here, so it might be a long time before anything else breaks. 95% of the time this car is used for runs less than 2 miles from home, it is the not yellow but definitively it is the school bus.... :-) We'll see how it goes I guess, now that I have been in there I don't feel all that daunted if anything else needs doing.

Big box with parts showed up last Monday. Time to get the wrenches out and put it back together. :-)

One question, I bought some tack and seal last weekend to use for the WP gasket as it looks to be tricky to prosition it. Would that be ok to use or is better to go dry?

can't hurt to use some tack, imho.

I had a big box full of cooling system parts show up this week too, although the radiator didn't make it - prolly that will show up today.

pump is back on

Not bad for an evening's work. On the 4.4 changed the chain tensioner and got the water pump back on. Almost had a coronary when I discovered a lip sticking out but checked on the board and the rhein gasket has a little lip at the bottom that sticks out.....

My 4.8 suddenly lost the Bluetooth but removing the fuses made it re-appear.

And my wife rescued herself from a sudden inability to start our p/u truck due to a slightly corroded battery post with a little help over the phone.

Done!

The hoses were in pretty good shape apart from the little one going around the exp tank which I replaced.

My ham strings got stretched pretty well bending over to get the damper and belts back on but otherwise nothing note worthy! :-)

Thanks again to all who gave good advice. (I had initially only read the threads and not seen the excellent how to article! The how to really is very well documented)
