I'm getting a Compustar system installed on Wednesday. A car audio place in Vancouver is doing the job and was recommended by other shops that wouldn't touch our X. Apparently this place does them all the time as well as MB'S, Porsches, etc. They quoted me 500 dollars all in and stand behind their work. They require a spare key for the project that we can part with (for the microchip). The system we're getting is also compatible with Drone Mobile app for use in the Iphone. I'll let y'all know next week how it went down.

I seem to remember that the European Accesories catalogue offered an auto starter as well as an engine clock heater for purchase. I tried running the part numbers but not gettng anything through realoem.com

I bought a Clifford 590.2X alarm and remote start,pretty sweet for the most part.remote start ftw in the cold weather and stuff!

Well, it's all done. Dropped it off at 10 am and got it back at 6. $515 all in, for the Compustar Pro 1, with two upgraded remotes, (smaller, longer range, etc).

These guys are pros! Shop is called Soundworks located in Burnaby, BC. Everything works as it's supposed to - no surprises or sacrifices. 15 minute run time, and then it shuts down if not driven. Factory remote still works exactly as it used to and the starter remote works just like the factory one as well. They used my valet key for the bypass module.

I decided to forego the mobile phone app (works with all android/blackberry/apple phones). It was a 350 dollar add-on. They told me the prices would drop drastically in the next while and I could add it on then.

As I said, these guys are GOOD. The installer was very professional and explained how there were eight bosch relays under the dash to tie into and that is why most cheapo shops (Futureshop, Best Buy, etc) won't do them.

They gave us lifetime warranty on their work AND the system. The remotes have a 2 yr warranty but he said the unwritten rule with them is that they'll even replace it after that time unless it's just a battery issue.
