Exclamation Is there a DIY to get the Automatic Tailgate feature installed in the E53 X5?
Does anyone know if there is a DIY for the automatic tailgate feature for our cars? My friend has the E70 and it has this feature. I looked and it seems like the top of the shocks holding the trunk down have a round piece that probably has the gears and motors in there.

How can we make this work on the E53s??

the majority of these "spindle drives" for the rear tail gate function fail quite often. when they fail the upper tail gate comes slamming down, destroying the rear glass. why would u want this to happen?

Yea, I imagine it would only make it look like a wanna be E70. Well it was a nice idea while it lasted...
