Nav worth it for resale?
Is Nav what you look for when you buy a used car? I would think after 3 to 4 years, the in car Nav always seem dated and the older it gets the less attractive it seems. The simple business radio would actually be better.
What do you guys think? |

I like the nav and was a + for me. The only thing that might get out dated is the map and if its that bad then you can buy a new map disk.

The user interface may date but functionally they all pretty much do the same job.

+1. When I replace my e36 with an e46 or e92 I will be searching out one WITHOUT the stock nav. We did buy our e53 with stock nav, but I wouldn't have paid more for it. Just happened to be the model that fit our needs at the time.

Nav made no difference in my decision to buy. I also use a portable day to day. In fact-between cars, phones, and portable-we have 6 in our household. I do like the bigger screen that comes with the Nav though.

Considering Im the type to always want the latest and greatest, meaning I'm not against upgrading, I could personally care less about stock navi. With the wide choice in the aftermarket, more times than not an aftermarket setup will perform much better, more options and all with great integration. My AVIC does more than any stock BMW navi system can do, and for 1/3 of what I've seen people pay on www.bimmernav.com to upgrade to a stock navi type setup. For the stock diehards, they've already made up their minds...but I know what I would do. Every one of my cars has a different stereo in it, getting rid of the stock stuff almost instantly because it means better sound quality, adaptability, etc right out of the box. Even the stock speakers in the M5 and X5 sound far better running off a different deck...the 7 I completely rewired and replaced all 14 speakers with MB Quarts.

I also got one with nav that I wouldn't have paid extra for. I use my portable Garmin between different cars and it's easier to use with the touchscreen and other features.
