Blower motor not working

The problem started a week ago and with a sound that sounded like it was coming from the engine compartment. It would was a steady sound with a momentary half second increase in pitch that would repeat every 8 secs and then steady again for another 8 sec etc... It sounded like it might be a bearing on a fan pully, something like that. The pitch wasn't changed by increasing the engine speed and would go away when the blower motor was shut off, but it didn't change it's pitch by an increase or decrease in the speed of the blower motor. When shutting off the blower fan it sounded like vents being opened or closed before the pitch would stop. Then today the blower motor quit working but the sound was still there but not as loud. It would go away after putting the blower motor setting to off. Then after 10 minutes the sound went away also and hasn't come back.

I changed out the FSR about a month ago when the blower wouldn't shut off even when the car was shut off. The new FSR cured that problem.

I'm thinking that the blower is dead. Is there a way to test to see if the blower motor is dead before going through all the trouble of taking the whole dash apart? I wish I would have kept my faulty FSR which ran the blower continuously. I would plug it in and see if it would run the blower. Is there a way to jump across some of the pins that the FSR connects to to run the blower? All the fuses are ok. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.
