So my radio tuner is faulty! My car doesn't have an Amp. What now??

Hi all

I have been going round in circles for months. Initially the speakers went off down the right hand side of my car. After much searching and posts on different forums with no sight of finding the elusive Amp, I took it to an independant BMW dealer last week. They told me the car doesn't even have an Amp. They charged me £47 and told me "your radio tuner is faulty. Here is the part number 65.12.6.964.400". So, I rang BMW and they told me... That part number is not from your X5. It's from an X3. That is not the correct part.

What now??????

The Independant garage told me "Lift up the Spare Wheel, unscrew the panel and there next to each other are the radio tuner and TV tuner. It is the radio Tuner that is faulty"

Any comments on this guys?

They're probably right, I had the same problem, all the speakers went out on the right side, then the rear left speakers went out. I thought the problem was the amp since the connector had severe corrosion on the pins. I replaced the amp and nothing changed, I was then advised to check the radio tuner, bought one for $400 and all 10 speakers work now. You also have to get it coded to work correctly. Check realoem.com for the correct part number for the x5

Might be better off getting one of the aftermarket units that people are talking about on the forums. Looks stock but has many more features. Unfortunately, no OBC interface yet...
