You are scarring me, I have a terrible clunk sound over any road surface. I don't hear it at high speeds but that could be due to wind. I ordered BMW links and will install on Thursday or Sunday. I pray that will fix it. I will post reply if it solves the issue.

Did you replace the sway bar end links or the thrust arm bushings? That's the extent of my knowledge on clunks.

If you have air struts on front, could be one of them giving up the ghost. Replaced mine when they started leaking and fixed " clunk " as well. Try Arnott Industries for replacements

could be swaybar endlinks, could be thrust arm bushings if you did not install them the right way, which is to lower the vehicle preload than tighten that big bolt that goes through the bushing. could also be you front lower arm(wishbone). replace each pair of parts seperately to determine what the culprit is. good luck

well, today i was going to change the oil in the diffs then transfercase. so i found on the forums about tick tok noise when the siffening palt is loose. well mine wasnt loose but the plastic cover under there uses metal clips that if loose make that exact sound. os im going to put the stiffening plate back but not the plastic and see if i can replicate the conditions and hopefully have no sound. bc with my old suspension i had the tick tok over speed bumps etc but now its quiet exept of random times which i think it was this plastic cover. but we will see.

I have the same clunk when turning... I have changed new sway links and also retighten the sways etc. The only thing I can think of that I haven't changed is the upper strut mounts or anything related to "strut"! I have poly bushes.

Try to check where's the noise coming from. Mine was from steering rack.

ok so...
i have eliminated the front end sound but now..... at around 75-80mph there is really bad shacking.....OMG im getting realy frustrated with this crap. i have not done an alignment yet after the front end rebuild. but also the tires were previously balanced but im hoping the alignment with 65mph tire balance will solve this .... any other input? what else can it be!!! (FYI ive been dealing with a vibration for the last 3yrs always somehting is wearing or a new part starts to act up) ahhaha just my luck. |
