Pulsing AC
I just got one of these autos, and though we like it, I the AC operation is acting peculiar. For a minute or so after startup, the AC pulses when the car is at idle, as if a blower or fan was going off and on. If you switch to 100% fan, it does not pulse. I do not think it should do that, and thought it might be a blower motor or some other fan. Apparently there are a lot of fans in this vehicle. MY search did not pull up anything on fans cutting out, so I thought I would ask. Does anyone have any experience with pulsation during AC operation? I am going to plug my laptop into the ODBII tonight but I doubt that will tell me anything about the air conditioning. |

Replace the Final Stage Resistor. Go to the "Home Page" there are instructions there.

My service adviser diagnosed this as a failed FSR and it is being replaced under CPO warranty today. Hijack Question. What OBDII software are you using? Can you also reset codes? Thanks & good luck - Eric in AZ |

Lo jack, I am assuming that you are referring to when you are using the temp on the red setting (dial) and the temp guages above say 75 degrees right.... basically when using the heater? Do it do it when you turn the dial back to cold and the temp is below say 70 degrees as set on the temp guage?

Sounds like you all are well familiar with this resistor. That's reassuring. On the downside, electronics are not my strong suit. The ODB2 software I have is Digimoto. I got it for my firebird, but wouldn't you know, every car made since 96 has to be ODB2 compliant. I have yet to actually run it on the X5. I can clear codes on my 'bird...I am hoping to do the same on this car. I will advise on that when I get a chance to fire it up. It is only a read and clear codes prog...for actually writing fueling tables and what not we use HPTuners. I have no idea if HPT writes for X5s, but I would definately be interested to see if they do. It is quite a pain to edit your fueling tables cell by cell but the gains you can get out of such activity - even on a stock car - are completly worth it. Thanks for all the responses and welcomes; hopefully I can put in close to what I get out of this board. |
