Rear hatch drip?

Now that it has finally started to rain in California I am reminded of a problem that exists. After I wash the car, or after a rain, once I open the rear hatch water will drip from the license plate light bar. I have removed the piece and looked for a place water can be trapped. I have also checked the other drain holes in the rear hatch. I am thinking of drilling small drain holes in the light bar to drain water. Has anyone else had this problem?
