So you dont want to pull UP as you might crack the windshield edge.....you want to pull BACK AND AWAY.....kind of like pulling towards the back of the car once you get one edge to loosen up.

An original BMW windshield will have the emblems stamped on it like the side windows do I assume.
I will look for it before ordering the part.

Not to worry, the molding will not leak as its a decorative only piece! But is just unsightly. I plan on doing mine before winter, probably when I change my oil.

I am considering putting a layer or two more of silicon then covering it with some deep layering of Plastidip to make it look a lil better.
So far I have done my grills, the rear X5 and the two 3.0i emblems with it and it looks pretty good.

Rich I replaced mine a year and a half ago and it was a 30 min DIY including cleaning out the sunroof channel

If its OE glass, you can buy the trim piece from dealer and get it done in your garage.
