Active Autowerke's Performance Software

Hey Guys,

I sent my ECU to Active Autowerke for a tune up. I have been looking for a while for a performance chip/software to squeeze a few more ponies out of the X or at least satisfy my curiosity. I notice that these guys sell stainless racing headers just like the ones I installed on my X and I knew I had finally found the right shop to work with. ( By the way the headers I put on were for E46 headers. Which is the same M54 motor just for the 3 series and not the X. But they fit perfect and only required some minor modification of where the headers bolted to the rest of the exhaust.) I called them and asked if they could tune my X5 with the E46 software since they are the same motors and they said YES! The best part about this is that they can tune my X according to my bolt on modifiactions. Which are:

aFe intake
Bavarian Auto High Performance Coils
Racing Headers
Turner pulleys
High flow exhaust
Cats delete

This was the last piece to my X5 puzzle that hopefully will satisfy my mod addiction If not they do sell a super charger kit that takes you from 240HP to 405HP. That would be interesting but I will not be going down that path...maybe. Now I do understand that I should have bought a 4.4, 4.6, 4.8, but when I bought my X5 I really had no clue. It was at my mechanics and they gave me a price I could not refuse. But now looking back I would have never gotten the 3.0. So all these performance bolts-ons are just a science project and gives me something to do while the X keeps on trucking to 400,000 miles. I will take it to a dyno to check and see how much money I have wasted to how much additional HP I have gained. LoL I hope it's not too bad. I will keep you posted, I get the ECU back today!!

Lol, I really doubt it as to engine longevity. It's next on my list, I've been looking into some universal high flow cats from Mangaflow. I think it is a much cheaper route than using BMW manifold/cat replacement.

cats only work when they are very warm
. they are not much use in cold climates .

wally , the 6 cyl is lighter than a V8 and less costly to gain more HP .
the 405 HP from a supercharger sounds great .
