Window regulartors... Why do you hate me so much?
Each one has been replaced twice already, except the front pass. Now i need to replace the rear ones again! I sware i just replaced one like 3 months ago ![]() Anyway, is there any solution to stop this darn things from ever falling again? Also, did BMW ever "update" regulators for the 04-06 years?

Do you often close the doors with windows down?
I am convinced that avoiding closing the door with the window partially or all the way down is a good preventative step. This approach likely won't totally prevent it from happening again, but I think the regulators and clips have an easier life this way!

Actually I hardly do, ever since the second one, i have always kept them visable. But, lol, they still fall once the regulator moves.

got me on this one, my X is coming up to six years old and never had the problem.
that said NO ONE slams my doors, and where i live we rarely have the windows down, (A/C on most of the year) so i know people have problems but i dont know why, maybe you live in a cold area and they get brittle?? |

Agreed. Avoid slamming the doors hard would help, especially when the window at down position.
The front/pass just failed the other day, the window dived right down to the bottom. After taking down the panels, I noticed the screw with the clip bolt to the regulator (on both ends), had been dis-placed out of the regulator. Problem solved after I replaced the clip and bolt it back together. So the regulator was working fine. The dis-placement was probably caused by the force from the door closing, when the window was open. I had the windows open more often recently because the air-con is waiting to be fixed. But both my wife at the passenger side and I are aware of this issue and have been very careful when closing the doors...... and it STILL fails. There's definitely a designer issue here.
