P0171,P0301,P0304,P0303,P0305,0174,P0300,P0302
The service engine light came four days ago. I use my scan tool to retrieve these code's. The car run's smooth with no smoke or any other symptom's. I ran in to similar problems last cold season. Some of the same code's. I was getting rough idle and white smoke when we started the car. I posted last year & got excellent results from the feed back. It turned out to be the CCV (Crancase breather valve). I replaced it and all the faults cleared and the car has run fine ever since. I think it was in March of this year I replaced the CCV. Note: The one I installed was the cold weather one. Thank you in advance for any help. Jay

The p0171 and p0174 codes are lean mixture faults, meaning unmetered air/vacuum leak. The rest of the codes are misfire faults, would have been stored with the engine running really rough, maybe ran out of gas sometime in the past.
With the CCV already replaced I'd look at the intake boot that gos to the throttle body, specifically the small elbow that shoots from it to the idle valve. It is prone to splitting in the ribs in the turn. If that is intact you may have to get it smoke tested somewhere.

Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention I also replaced the boot last season as well, the original one was cracked at the ribbed section.

Well, then you already hit the common points judging you changed the attached hoses with the CCV... may need to smoke the system. I was working on a 3 with the same engine last week for the same lean mixture faults, the valve cover gasket was leaking at the #6 spark plug tube causing the vacuum leak through the crankcase ventilation system. I never would find leaks like that without the smoke tester.

Smoke Test

P0171, P0174
The car ran rough for my wife on the way home from work today. I checked with scan tool. All the code's still the same with the addition now of cylinder 6 (p0306).. I cleared code's took car for a little run. Only code's & the first to appear NOTE: (after the oxygen sensor's cleared), were the P0174, & P0171, System to Lean, Banks 1 & 2. I am going to drive the car to work on Wenesday. To see for myself what is happening & in what sequence. Any more suggestions will be appritiated. I'll repost as things change.

You definitely have a vacuum leak somewhere, the thing is finding out where it is. If you want to do a quick check you can pull out the #6 ignition coil and see if there is oil on the bottom of it. I say that because I've seen once or twice where the vacuum leak is the valve cover cracked and/or gasket leaking. And if it had a misfire at #6 it could possibly be caused by the same culprit.

p0174, P0171Update 1/5/2011
I drove to work 45 minutes to work, 45 minutes from with only these two codes. Stoped to pick up my wife, on drive home 25 minutes later in stop & go traffic some of the original "P" codes showed up (p0301,p0302,p0304,p0305) misfire code's. Car is still running fine. The P0174 & P0171 did not show up until after the oxygen sensor had passed their diagnostic's. The other's showed up after the "EVA" passed it's diagnostics, but before the "Cat" has passed it's diagnostics, (it's still blinking on the code reader). The car is still running fine.
