Check Brake Lights

I keep getting the "Check Brake Lights" message on my dash board of my 2005 X5 4.4, please advise if you had this issue in the past and what was the solution.

Thanks and happy holidays.

I was having the same issue with my 03, driver side rear lamp had some sort of corrosion and wasn't making good enough contact. Pulled the bulbs, and bought new ones, and some elecrical contact cleaner. The cleaner and some scotch brite, good as new, no problems since.

Common problem with tail light/brake light sockets corroding. Clean as noted above.

Since you have a facelift X5,check the bottom bulb on the right side tail light.
Very common for the contact with the bulb to have melted away.If you find this is indeed your case, then you can easily fix it yourself as the "how to" information is all here

How can you tell if the contact is melted or just corroded? My driver side tail light does work when the bulb socket is fully tight (turned all the way right). If I turn it left the light turns on, but as soon as I let go it turns off because it's not on tight. Do I have to remove entire assembly to see? I did notice corrosion on the socket contacts
