Got one, but I haven't installed it yet. I received it the day after my dad had transplant. So I haven't had the time. Hopefully in a week or 2 I'll be able to install. I want to add Sirrius to it at the same time, and was asking the community for suggestions on where to put my sat antenna.

All good. I just had to refine my search criteria slightly. I found complete installation instructions by IFLYX5. Thanks

I installed the original Dice and then the Silverline on my 2002 X5 4.6--worked fine. Yesterday I installed the media bridge upgrade with bluetooth and Sirius. I left the original line from the CD changer in place just swapped the connector on the new line that plugs into the Media bridge for the that worked with the Dice models--same wires just larger connector.
I have the Media bridge and Sirius modules located in the very front of the console, just removed the carpeted side panel that runs up the side of the console There is a easily accessible space near the gas pedal and it is convenient to run the USB line to the ashtray and run the Sirius antenna and the microphone from there. I ran the wire for the Sirius antenna wire to the passenger side just lowered the panel that holds the interior light to hide it away. The antenna wire runs up to the dash using the the gap between the dash and the trim to hide it away. I located the antenna on the top of my front speaker. I can see it if I lean way forward but it looks like it is supposed to be there and works fine. I ran the microphone wire the same route to the dash but then up and around the windshield trim to get to the rearview mirror. The gap between the windshield and trim is such that I just pressed it in like shown on Bavsound website video for Z4. I put the microphone under the center trim that has the maplight switches also like the Z4. I haven't figured out how to do presets for Sirius, I think I followed instructions but no success. Also, the readout for station and song information is on the screen in front of the steering wheel. On the Dice models Bavsound provided me instructions to move the readout to the nav screen. I will be checking with them to see if I can do so with the Media bridge--much better if a passenger is looking to change sirius stations though it will be OK if it can't be done as any change is announced by the Nav unit voice on/off option. All works great. I really like using the bluetooth connection to hear music from my iPhone. |

Yes, I use the bluetooth for hands free phone. The music stops, the call number is announced, I just push track up on the steering wheel to answer and track down to end the call and the music returns.
Bavsound is very helpful, I'm sure they will know if locating bluetooth in the back will be a problem. I don't think it will. You can lay it out that way and fire it up before you hide the wires and find out. I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them. |
