Voice Control/Dialing E53- iPhone4 ?

Hi all, Wasn't sure whether to post this here in E53 or AV/Nav, but have a question: I have the original Voice Recognition module in my '05 X5, which I have used for years for cell phone dialing, with a (I know, waaaayy "old school" ) Motorola Razr v3 - I purposely have avoided upgrading the cell for years, due to the fact none of the voice recognition software, up until recently performed as well as the Razr, and I constantly use it. The Razr also pairs and works great with the X-5's Voice Control and bluetooth. I'm at the point where I really finally DO need to get a new smartphone, and the most logical choice after much investigating and comparison, is either the iPhone4 or the Samsung 'Droid Captivate, since I'm locked into ATT. Can anyone tell me if they have and use either of these phones with the E53 Voice Control, and/or if I'd have any problems pairing and setting up either of these with the older software in my '05? 'Would very much appreciate hearing from anyone with experience with either of these in this scenario - I'd hate to lose the Voice Control dialing-from-the-wheel option!

No problems with iPhone 4 with bluetooth and voice module that came with my 2005. All functions including voice dialing and stored voice tags work flawlessly. No problem with phonebook download either. I regularly switch between a BB Bold 9700 and an iPhone 4 and both work great.

I have an 05 E53 and an iPhone 4 that paired quite easily for me. The voice control has worked when ever I use it as well.
Haven't really read the owners manual in regards to the Voice Control Dialing, (I usually just hit favorites and dial from there) didn't know you COULD voice dial... How do you do it...?
I'd be more than happy to try it for you.

After the beep, say "dial number", the response will be "please say the number", then just speak each single digit clearly. When you pause the response will be "continue", after which you say "dial".

I have 2004 X5 and an iPhone 4 and have zero issues with it pairing and using voice control to dial a number or a name.

I can get my i4 to pair with my '04 just fine, but none of the incoming numbers display on my nav or the display between the gauges. And what does display on the nav screen has a bunch of gibberish mixed in with the names and numbers. It voice dials just fine but won't recognize dialing by voice tags. What am I doing wrong? It all worked just fine with my old Razr and Blackberry.

I wonder if it could be problems with an older BT module? Mine was replaced around 3 years ago under warranty with an updated module. My problem at that time was the red light (no service) on the dash would stay lit even if no phone was paired. I suspect that upgraded module also provided a number of other improvements.

~ THAT'S what I'm afraid of, Phil - that the module that works with the Razr v3 is outdated for iPhone 4 - mine IS the older, original version... anyone else have it workin' or not with orig module/software and new iPhone or Droid? I always use the Voice Tag method of dialing from the X5 phonebook - don't want to lose that convenience!!

~PShypnotiqdmg: If you want further info on what to look for/have installed for Voice Recognition Dialing, send me a PM w/ your address
