Door Handle Issue In Later Models?

I am looking at some 05-06 X5's and have read through the threads on the door handle freeze problem. Has the problem been rectified in later models or does this issue still plague them as well?

Outside handle door carriers fail on the LCI ('refresh') 04-06 as well. Equal 'treatment' for all owners, regardless of year.
