4.8IS transmission acting strange and Failsafe message --- This time it's mine :(

Hi, I know this has been covered many time but I cannot find someone who has the same problem as mine has.

Decription: It happens when I accelerate, with a 75% throttle, on 3 gear, at about 3500rpm (I think it happens when it try to shift). Also, it CAN happen when I am on 6th and hit the accelerator and it downshift to whatever gear it needs to. If it let go the pedal at the shift point, or if I go 30% throttle when it changes gear, or when it changes gear at low rpm, I don't get any problems...

What happens: A whining noise that last 3 seconds.. (like someone with asthma trying to breath)... What you feel is like there is no power, like if then engine just shut down (but it did not). You loose all momentum and inertia of the vehicule during that 3 sec... The rpm stays the same, its' not like if you were in neutral and when up like crazy... About 3 secs later, bang, it get back online and keep going where it left... After two time, I get the Transmission failsafe program message...

i had new fluid and latest software flashed... The truck is an 05 with 60k miles

Hope someone can help...

Clogged filter?
I had whining on mine, but only it was below operating temps.
If the filter is an aftermarket one,I would say get it changed with the OE or some reputable brand.Mine is Filtran branded one and no whining.
I remember that my X was slowing down significantly during the shifts, not anymore.

unfortunately, no more warranty.

when the whining noise appears, I feel like the vehicule is slowing down, similar feeling like someone trying to slightly pull the truck backward...

Does it feel like 'clutch slip' at all? Probably worth getting the codes read as soon as you can. If it is a clutch pack failing then it needs looking at sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't ignore the filter fault possibility.Unless you prefer to go more complicated way right a way.
