if you want to actually change the steering wheel positioning its very easy. if the steering wheel if off, i would recommend an alignment.

anyway, to change the steering wheel alignment heres what u need to do

I'm assuming you have a 4 spoke non sport steering wheel...

1. unscrew two t25 torx bolts behind the airbag. (they are positioned at 9 and 3 oclock behind the wheel) (if you have a sport steering wheel, there are two places for you to put a screwdriver to pry the airbag off.)

2. pull the airbag out..disconnect all the plugs (there should be two of them, not the ones on the actual airbag, but they are connected to the steering column)

3. There is a big bolt in the middle of the steerign wheel now, unscrew that and realign. there should be a marking that lines it up straight..

sorry this may be confusing, i'm on vacation and a little drunk but the directions are correct. Remember to avoid gettign the airbag light to disconnect your battery first.

if youre still confused, go to the DIYs and there is one on how to replace the steering wheel

If the above proceedure doesn't work you can also get a competant wheel allignment speicalist to do your front wheels and they should straighten the steering wheel as part of this process.

thats what his first move should be. Because i dont know exactly how the steering wheel would get off center without someone taking it apart and changing the positioning.

An alignment would probably be your best move. V&S (one of our site sponsors) has the hunter machine, try giving them a call

Hi,

normally there is a reason when your steering wheel has to be aligned. The fact that you have an offset might mean (might) that there is a bigger problem in the system. Maybe somebod has hit something, maybe something is bent - The offset steering wheel is only an optical problem. I would try to fix the root cause before.

Good luck,

H

not sure how bad the alignment is, but i have been told previously that the dash slopes a bit which can play tricks on the eyes. 2 cents
