Not only were they funny looking they were also funny to drive! We may not have won the world over with our powerful, throbbing, earth-shattering 4-pots but I'm damn sure we won it in the comfort stakes!! Every car I've had that were made before the 90's always seemed to drive like a couch-sooooo comfortable. No speed, no brakes, but you didnt care because you were so laid back in your mobile couch!

Yep, very classic british sports car. Very nice. I just read the specs and it says that it was 'limited' to 115mph due to its gearing, but would go faster if it was one with overdrive. Quite fast for a 1962 car, especially seeing as it'd feel like you were in a roller skate!

1972 VW Super Beetle that my dad bought new in Amsterdam and shipped back to the States after about 9 months in Europe. I sold it in '83 for $12 less than he paid in '72.
Good old inflation will do that...

Weasel will become famous soon enough
My first was a 1969 F250 with 360ci FE series big block, C6 trans and dana 60 rear end w/410 gears. 3/4 ton truck, standard cab w/8' bed. Guess my parents figured If I was ever going to wreck my first vehicle I should be able to drive away with a scratch and screw the other guy!

Oh yeah, and thanks to the 4 wheel drum brakes literally coming apart (friction material came loose from shoes while driving!) I did wreck it... and I had little damage to the bumper cosmetically while the car I hit got totaled and rolled between two other cars causing major body damage to them both! (she got a shiny new chrome bumper and all new brakes after that one!

I bought my first car in 1989 when I was 17 years old... a bright yellow 1977 VW Rabbit.

It was 1977 when I fixed up a scrap 1968 Mini 850cc! It was running and seemed indestructable no matter what I did with it, but badly rusted when I got it. It was fire engine red and I painted the roof white. It had sliding windows and HUGE 10" wheels. But it was as fast around corners as in a straight line and I avoided having to take the bus to school or ride my Triumph Bonneville in winter :-)

By the time I graduated from engineering I'd gone thru another Mini, a 1300cc beetle, three Datsuns and I wound up drivng a BMW 2002 from 1975. I guess that's why I still drive BMWs even after having had a couple of 911s, a Benz M, an Audi Allroad and an MR2.
