In 1954, it was a 1947 Ford flathead 2 door sedan; black. At age 17, I had just graduated from high school. I had $100, my dad loaned me another $100 and I drove the thing away.

Oh this should be interesting.
My first car was a new Chevy Vega GT in '73. Great autox car, but fenders rotted out in 2 years and the aluminum block warped in 15k miles. $2891 brand new.

A 1978 Mercury Cougar given to me by my parents in the early 80s. What a rotten car. First one I ever bought was an 81 320i around 88.

1975, bought a 66 Mustang coupe, 289. $275, had it towed home, and rebuilt it entirely, from engine and all ancillaries to automatic transmission, brakes, suspension, etc. It was ready to go in 1976 when I could drive it on the road. Dad helped, but I paid everything.
