1952 Ford, flathead V8, 3 speed stick 'on the tree'...
Looked ugly, ran barely ok, burned considerable oil, etc. Had shot shifter forks, bad compression, and on and on... I think I paid $300 for it, circa 1963, which was semi-serious dough for a high school kid then. Drove it a year and sold it for the same price. Too long ago; I can't recall many details, except for the fun times at the Oak Drive-In.  Pics of what that famous Ford V8 motor and the car, in much better condition than mine ever was, looked like:
