seems I have messed my central locking up. What I did: I have mounted this module: http://www.car-solution.de/en/BMW-X5...5-E53-SAV.html which is connected to the iBus and all functions of the module work but: remote locking/unlocking via key doesn't work any more mechanical locking of the drivers door doesn't lock the other doors lower tailgate doesn't open any more disconnecting the module doesn't change anything I have already checked fuses 20, 24 and 60 in the front and all fuses rear - they are fine. Maybe anybody has an idea. With this status I am not able to lock the upper part of the tailgate - not in any way. HELP !!!!!!! Helmuth |

What do the guys at Car Solution say? Have you checked the blue relay and fuse 84 at the back? I have been in contact with them regarding the module they sell to close mirrors with remote, but I havent gone any further because I am not happy with their tech support. |

Hi powers1,
already sent a mail. Not sure how big that company is, maybe only 1-2 people. Now I am waiting for an answer - but somhow I believe I have to fix that by myself - or via dealer..... Thanks |

Maybe somebody knows which module holds the central locking functionality. My diagnosetool from Bavariantechnic was saying that it cannot communicate with the ZKE (central body).
But I have no error and all else is working... ?? |

Lots of good information on this site:
BMW General Module 5 (GMV, ZKE V) I believe you are looking for the GM3 module, which is listed in the navigation on the left side of the above site. I am not suggesting you send your module in for repairs as offered on the above site, but you can use the info to try and troubleshoot it further. Good luck.

That seems to be great info. On exactly that module I have connected the eLight module with + and - on the X332 plug on pin 1 and 14. Maybe I have cut a wire there and it has no more power....... shouldn't that throw an error?
Will look tomorrow when I have light again - fingers crossed. Thank you. EDIT just looked again and found: 14 -- Unlock Signal Door Lock/tank Flap Motor0.5 WS/GN sounds promising.... seems to be cut. Will keep you posted. |

Problem solved, thanks guys !!!
There was one cable cut - unbelieveable. It was the wire to pin 1 (ground) that was broken on the GM3 module plug on interface X332. There was no error code visible. Symptoms (there were strange ones): remote locking/unlocking via key doesn't work mechanical locking of the driver door doesn't lock the other doors lower tailgate doesn't open any more upper tailgate cannot be locked in any way front wipers not working power steering not as strong as it should be !!! ![]() fixing that cable fixed all these issues. Learnings: if you ever connect something to your wires and see such a thing as in the picture. Take it and throw it away as far as you can. Regards, H |

Those cable taps are not necessarily crap or the issue. The problem is that people tend to think that those taps are a universal fit, which they are not. The color of the tap indicates a group of wire gauges that it will work with. Looks like you're trying to tap a larger wire than what the cable tap was designed for.
Good detective work |

You are right DKL. But these things were part of the eLight module I was trying to put in - works now and is a lot of fun!! From the size of that pink thing I would think it should fit. Problem is that the cable to put it on is behind the glovebox and you are lying on your back, half out of the car when you do that.
Soldering the cables was much better. Regards, H |
