Added MotorMouth II Bluetooth for wireless Aux Input and handsfree... works great!

This might not be up the purists alley, but I really like it. I was sick of the wire connecting my iPhone4 to the Aux Input and wanted to clean that up a bit. I also felt like the Bluetooth phone connectivity was lacking, and people could often barely make out what I was saying (2006 Imola Red X5 4.4 w/ Nav, DSP, Sport, etc.)

So I did this...

Scosche motorMouth II adds Bluetooth to car stereos | The Car Tech blog - CNET Reviews

I thought of all kinds of places to mount it, and tested it with the wife in the house on our home phone. This location was as clear as any, and obviously quite simple to run vs. the ashtray where I originally had the Aux Input or the glove box (this thing has a mic, so it needed to be directional towards the person speaking.)

I like that I can press the button on the unit to invoke voice dial on the iPhone. From there I say Call Jon Home and it does it. I've always been amazed at how accurately the iPhone handles voice dial, I just never use it enough. I think that this will encourage me to handle the phone LESS while I drive which is a good thing. I admit I mess with it too much.

Then there's the Bluetooth audio streaming. FM radio is terrible, so I'm pretty much 100% Pandora. I love that I can BT wirelessly stream Pandora to this unit and not worry about what's on the 4 decent FM stations in my area.

I also ordered a RAM-Mount for the iPhone 4 to mount the phone securely to the windshield below the mirror. This will allow GPS X Drive app to be easily seen and worked with since we all know how wonderful the Nav is in the E53s :-)

Anyways, here it is. Keep in mind that the main piece actually can be removed from the base, leaving just a 1/8" stereo jack. I could remove the unit and plug in any aux input source that didn't have bluetooth and it's simply mated directly to the BMW Aux Input. I unplug the unit and place it in the glove box at night or every few days to charge. I use the flashlight to 12v power adapter from BMW for power in the glovebox. Easy as can be on that point.

So yes... purists... it kinda sticks out. But no wires. I like no wires for my Pandora. Also tested vs. factory Bluetooth and it actually sounds much cleaner. That and simple voice dialing on the iPhone. So far I like it!
