You can also splice the connector and keep the OE unit under the seat or into the glove compartment, for those times you need to access the data. However, that is far from ergonomic.
If you need better HU capability you can get a DICE or craft yourself a carpc.

I have installed the unit today (same as Rado). I have a couple of questions. 1. Buttons do not light up when turned on. 2. My unit has built in digital TV. How do installed the antena on the roof? Also, GPS antena.....where do I put it?

buttons should light up when you turn your lights on. I don't have digital tv but i'm sure you can mount the antenna somewhere inside near a window, no need to go to the roof. For the gps antenna, you can leave inside where the unit is in the dash, or put next to the windshield from inside where the speaker is somewhere - that is where I put mine, no need to go to the roof either.

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but why would you want to stray from the oem, if your not willing to pay for an upgrade stereo system that is at least put together by a knowledgeable car stereo house? My feeling is maybe stay with the higher quality oem. Just my opinion. I have gone the route with different cars going half way on a stereo system, believing I was getting an upgrade only to find features were missing and was never happy with the results.

I have checked with the high end car stereo place near me and he said unless I'm spending $1500 or more plus installation to stay with oem.
