BMW X5 Aftermarket DVD player

Hi all! I've been thinking about upgrading to an aftermarket DVD player on my E53 X5, does anybody know what would fit and work fine on the X5 without losing any of it's features such as the bluetooth and steering control? there is one system that's always been advertized on eBay and I always been interested in getting it because it looks so factory and it's designed for the E53 X5 and it's plug and play and it's built in bluetooth and steering wheel control just how your standard BMW system comes, it even shows the BMW logo on start up, but the only thing that's been holding me back from getting it is it's made in China! does anybody know anything about this DVD system whether it's good or not? if you go on ebay and type in BMW X5 DVD player it will show up. your advice is much appreciate it guys!!!

Take a look at Hualingan or Dynavin. There is a Hualingan dealer that hangs around our forum. Search for Hualingan. You can also search for Dynavin on this forum. However you will find much more information about it on e46fanatics.com. After comparing the two it is usally easy to decide which one to get. The Hualingan has a 7" screen but requires you to cut out your radio bracket (assuming you have the MID). The Dynavin has a smaller 6.2" screen but does not require any special modes to your dash.

He probably was already looking at some H or D unit, according to his description. Well, the unit is.. like you said.. made in China. The Chinese taste of the product is not that hard to digest, but you will loose all OBC functions, including aux heating/ventilation, plus it will not coop with the DSP, if you have it.

If you are not picky, you can pretty much connect any DVD player to your video module, on the AUX input. The bad part is that you will only control it from the remote, if it doesn't have ibus integration. Not quite a downer for movies, if it was for the music you listen while you drive, it would suck.

I've bought the Hualingan unit a year and half ago and have been extremely happy with it. My X does not have dsp, so it was plug and play. I had to cut the frame where the old mid and radio were but no biggie. All is good and I've enjoyed it since then with no issues - it looks great, sounds great and had only compliments. I also considered the Dynavin unit but did not like it too much - it did not look as factory fit as the H unit, but that is my opinion. That new one on ebay looks good as well and has the faster processor and some better functions I believe.
Here are couple of pics of my unit.

Hi

I have Aux heating and DSP. If i'm to purchase an aftermarket HU but using ISO harness, would i be able to retain the Aux heating? Also DPS?
What about the trip/fuel computer display, how does that going to work?
Thanks

No aftermarket HU will display OE unit data, you are loosing all those and they will only display on the instrument cluster. Also, many aftermarket units are not DSP compatible.
