I just checked the treadwear last night and they are very very near the treadwear indicator. Here's a picture and I'm guessing they are at 3-4/32" tread? Indicators are at 2/32" right?

Hahahahah. I can't even get the X to do that LOL. Anyway she is not aggressive by any means and the alignment is per BMW spec.

my tires with roughly 7-9kmiles on em have plenty of tread left so there has got to be something up with the tires or your toe in/toe out

What are you driving? Same tires? Can you estimate how much tread left or take a pic please? I'm going to go check the alignment settings and report back.

consumer reports says they only have fair tread life. after reading their website, they talk about winter and snow performance, and their 'DWS' indicator. complete BS.

this is not a winter tire and is now winter rated. the DWS indicator simply shows you the depth of tread, no magic here. they would be dangerous at any winter temperature since they do not have a winter compound in them. just another reason i will never buy a continental tire!
dude DWS are the best all season tires for snow you can buy. they are soft though, my friend just installed them couple of month ago on his G35x and car rides like on a cloud.
No one said they are winter tire ------ ALL SEASON

I've got 15k on my DWS (driven at high speed on the highway, and darting in/out of traffic in the city) and I'm still at 8/32R nd 8.5/32F. My only suspension mods are Powerflex bushings (including rear subframe) and Dinan camber plates.

I do carry ~100lbs of tools/computers/measuring equipment around almost all the time.

To the op: what are your tire pressures? Anything less than 32psi on these is too low.

There is a trade off hardness vs wear. Most tires sold in the US are rock hard and very dangerous in anything but dry conditions. I rent frequently and the tires on those cars are terrible, they scare me a lot in the wet and winter conditions. Some people demand and are proud that their tires will hold up for 50,000 miles.....madness!

For me 13,000 miles would be acceptable on a performance oriented vehicle. 20k is very good, anything beyond that you are probably driving on hockey pucks.

The only time I surprised myself was when I got through a set of Pirellis on my Carrera in 3000 miles in fairly normal city commuting but they were great tires!
