I was just curious why you wanted a light that was so high on the Kelvin scale because it is possible to go too bright. At some point it actually starts affecting how your eyes react. I personally think most people are looking for this high Kelvin number to achieve a particualar look and don't understand how it actually affects their vision. Bright white/blue light actually strains your eyes more than something a little lower on the Kelvin scale. Good choice to knock it down a few notches.

You should've checked the K on the dead DS2, to make sure your new one doesn't show up brighter.

Original Xenon lights are 4300K which is pretty close to pure white. Going above that lights get too much blue tint for my taste.

I think 4300-5000K is optimal light output.
Anything above starts getting blue, below gets yellow. At 12000-14000K you are seeing dim Violette light. Once my OE bulbs die, I think I am going to go for the 6000K bulbs for that little aesthetic blue tinge.

Speaking of headlights. My X has Xenon. They don't seem to be very bright. How long before these loose enough brightness to warrant a change? They are original on an '03.
