Or, install an infrared beam (like they have at the entrance of some stores), that will trigger a gong beside your bed, and if it goes on, take your baseball bat and scare that thief. My friend did something similar. In his neibourhood, there was some young guys (16-18) stealing hub caps on cars on a regular basis. He started to sleep with the window open, and his unloaded .22 riffle. When he heard the specific noise of hubcaps prying off, he went outside yelling and running after the guys and showing his riffle. The guys were so scared that they never came back. Just scare them though, or you may have bigger problems... |

Both mine were stolen with care. They came ready equipped with a torx screw driver and a pair of wire snips. Very neat job.

I really wouldn't do anything more than keep my insurance up to date. NEVER confront anyone breaking into your car. Even if you're both packing, there's almost never a good outcome. If you get shot or shoot someone else, is it worth it? If the car is in front of your house, you did the correct thing in putting cameras up. If the person really wants the mirrors, the sad reality is they will be gone...eventually. Good luck and try not to lose any sleep!

Here in the US we have theft-deterrent bolts, that have a round head with two small holes drilled near the edges, 180-degrees apart. It takes a special tool, or maybe a small set of needle-nose pliers, to tighten or untighten them. Can't apply much torque with either of those tools, but if you put some Locktite on the bolts first, it should be OK. I don't know if the bolts have a special name.

why not remove the torx screws and use allen head screws, your visitors may not have come prepared for that, and at least you will still be able to remove them, another thought is to fill the screw head with resin, it will deter thieves but with difficult you will be still able to remove them in the future
