Steering Wheel WEAR!!!

I bought used, but the steering wheel has lots of wear! Lots of BLACK has worn off the steering wheel. (it is now WHITE in spots) Anyone have any suggestion on fixing?? It is a real eye sore.

Is it a sport steering wheel? You can replace just that black part. It's really easy.

Its on a 4.8is I would imagine it is a Sport. How do you replace the black part?

THIS should help.

I'm currently partway through doing the wheel on my wife's E46. I'm a cheapskate so I'm repainting the trim with some silver paint I had in the garage

Wow!!!! What a HELP you guys are!!! THANKS so much!!!
Any hints on what tools you use to get it off? THe illustration is great. Do you just pull off the middle section?

No. Follow the link I posted.

Bad photo, but here's the trim from my wife's E46 that I've just painted. Needs one more coat but I'm quite pleased so far. It was black originally, and worn at the bottom showing the white plastic underneath. She now wants me to do all the trim in the car

I think the newer ones are black underneath so it's not as obvious when the rubberized part wears off.
