Trying to install backup camera

Hi Guys,

Wife is on my back to get her back up camera hook up and been searching/reading other post and I think I have most of the wired hook up right. Just can't seem to find the Yellow/White wire and purple/white wire for the reverse light. I took the panel off from the lower trunk hatch and took picture of the wires to see if the yellow/white and purple/white wire is there but nope. Only found the following on first and send picture. Also, I had to install a wire to pin 17 on the blue plug.

I bought the TV module from Bimmernav and had to finish the wiring (plugging in the RCA cable) since it ship unplug. I will be using the back up camera I bought from Ebay Car Rear View Reverse Backup Camera For BMW E46 & X5 - eBay (item 250701178316 end time Feb-20-11 09:31:39 PST)

Installed the RCA plug following instruction from http://www.kb97.co.uk/satnav/pdf/BMW-TV-Tuner.gif

Does it look right?

I should have bought one of those module from TVonNAV etc.

Thanks for the help

You will find the white/yellow wire and the purple/pink,not on your reverse lights but on the spare wheel compartment.
The purple /pink wire (+12v switched) is amongst the ones on the pic below.

What exactly do you want to know and what equipment do you have to be installed?

To install rear camera,to OE Front LCD,you also need:-
*NTFS(not PAL) rear camera
*video module
*RCA adapter cable from video module to camera(this will be your camera input)
*Relay

All wiring and installation is done in the boot and the lower tailgate area.
The wires you need are on the pic in my previous post.
This is the wiring I used to do mine and a few others here ,have also done the same successfully. The wiring instructions on a link in the Forum, were WRONG and irresponsible as it showed + and - going to same pin on relay. These here are tested and correct.

Great thank you. I still have a few more questions if you don't mind.

Ok, so the camera I understand. I see the one you got in the link.

Video module. What is that, do you have a link, or part number?

RCA adapter cable? Also, do you have a link or part number? Or did you make this yourself.

What is the name for that relay. I am not familiar with the terms on these things.

Thanks again. I am sort of a noob as far as wiring, so getting my head wrapped around this is slowly getting cleared. I must have read a ton of posts, and just hoping someone can explain the process. Thanks.

Have a look at this excellent post ,kindly provided by our co-founder, Jeff.It will explain most of what you are after.

You will notice that the rca adapter cable/tv in motion ,was supplied by TVONNAV,who unfortunately are out of business a long time ago.Quite a few of the members got the cable from them,so now you need to source Ebay or other to find it.Video module you can get from Tom@EAS (xoutpost sponsor),as well as the 12v switched 5 pin relay. He may also get you the cable.
