Self leveling suspension inact

well... I brought my car in back in mid december for an oil service and for them to check the self-leveling suspension msg that popped 2 days earlier. It was reset as I was told the cold weather may make the msg appear and that's what their service manual says.

Of course the msg came on again and I brought it back in on dec 28th... dealer had to wait for a part from germany to come... 3 1/2 weeks later.. I get a call saying my truck is ready... the SA drives it up to me up from... lo and behold.. SELF LEVELING SUSPENSION INACT msg AAAAGAIN!!! the SA told me before I got it that it came back on and he wants the tech to check it again... So I wait about 15 min... then he comes back to me and says that the shop foreman doesn't feel comfortable letting me drive my truck back by just him resetting it... They still have my truck and no words from them

Is it an unusual problem hard to fix? I mean thank God they provided me with a loaner but I love my X5 and I would hope they can fix it. It's an 05 4.8is with CPO coverage until mid march. Will the warranty be extended since they're taking so long to fix my truck?

I want your opinions or help on this if anyone works for BMW... ask and I'll PM u my vin so you can check it out

Was the part that they were waiting on the EHC (Electronic Height Control) module?

For X5s with 4 wheel air suspension (like ours) this is one of the more frequent issues. There are a number of things that can occur: EHC module, accumulator valves, front air struts, etc.

Be thankful they're sussing it out now, as the parts and troubleshooting can be expensive....

Self Leveling Suspension is Wortless......

BMW should have never put the "Self Lowering Suspension" on the X5.

I have spent over 2 grand fixing all of the BS parts at a local BMW Stealer on my 2003 4.4 x5.....

Why did they even put this stupid option on this car?????

I had this message come up after I towed my boat around... the rear of the car would sit lower than the front. Luckily for me it was a faulty fuse and replacing the fuse kicked on the air compressor and the rear lifted back up.

06 4.8iS here. One new airspring front, one new height senor and countless errors, faults.

Finally had ECU installed and no probs since then.

The stealer pretended they never had this issue but I found a tech from VA who looked at it who told me upfront to replace the ECU as he has seen a lot of issues with them. I of course did not based on cost and ended up blowing 4 hrs labor to reach the conclusion I needed an ECU.

They can be had online around $650 , stealer price typically $770.
Need coding so add two hrs to install and code.

Not a bad car at all, especially with man trans.

Was looking at 328xi coupe, after a test drive the little lady said "can we try 335xi coupe?", misa and sales guy looked at each other and said "Oh...oh..."

Now, I am the car washer of 335xi who drives a nice old X5.

BTW, GX5NY do you have CPO on your X5?
