Unhappy Steering Wheel Adjustment doesn't work

Hello, I just bought a 2002 e53 4.4i Sport w/Premium and Cold Weather pkgs. I have the sport seats and those adjust and work perfectly but the steering wheel adjustment doesn't work at all. I checked the fuses and they are fine. I read that the steering wheel adjustment is tied to the seat adjustment but I don't know how to diagnose the problem since the seats adjust just fine.

I also was told in another post that I could try to "reset" the wheel adjustment by putting the key in the ignition, turning it to the stop before actually starting the vehicle, moving the control to move the steering wheel. Turning the key off and then starting the vehicle. This unfortunately didn't work after many tries.

I have ordered a Bentley Publishing e53 repair manual but it won't be here for at least a week.

I would appreciate any help and if possible pictures of the areas I should troubleshoot.

Thanks!

Could be your motor as talked about here: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...p-anymore.html though I think there are two motors-one for longditudinal and one for vertical. Which leads me to be suspicious that BOTH have failed and begin to think it may be something else. But on the other side of the coin you dont know when one or both failed as the car is new to you...

I dont know if there is a relay for this somewhere, but that may be a possibility too..?
