I paid what I think is a reasonable price for the year and mileage. I don't like to discuss prices on the big purchases. It will lead to opinion and conjecture that is worthless from anyone but the buyer.

Welll.. I was *really* good about keeping my '04 3.0 stock until last year. I have been busy the past 10 years with my SC'ed 540i6. My wife's 330 is bone stock.

But I finally put SS brake lines and Eibach sways on the X5 and it totally transformed the thing. I LOVED it. I also DIY'ed the factory Sirius radio install and a DVD player in the glovebox with monitor headrests about 2 years ago. Funny thing about that: my 6 year old still doesn't know the DVD player exists. The headrests came with little stealthy covers and they're barely noticeable- especially to a child. We have been on a few long trips, but she is generally content to read or yipper yapper with us. Girls.

I have seen SOMEONE's LeMans X5 on here that they added the running boards to. I think I must do that. Love the look. I have a SuperSprint muffler on my 540. Love the sound. I don't know if something like this would do well on the X5.

I also use Akebono ceramics on the X5. Absolutely love them. I could see myself replacing the OE pads right away.

I don't think I'll ever supercharge it. One SC'ed BMW V8 is enough.

Swapping the res' for an x-pipe is all that's needed for an impressive exhaust note on 4.8iS, imo...add Dinan/AFE intake and it's music at WOT

Congrats...the mod bug may bite hard on this one.

Happy motoring

thanks for your advice. I have seen a Supersprint x pipe. Is there any magic within or would some mandrel bends and a skilled welder take care of it? Any other brand options?

Magnaflow is another option (2.25" i believe)...Skilled welder is all that's needed. Search on the subject, lots of info.

thanks for the lead. I searched and found info on what folks are doing. Unless I am oversimplifying, all ya gotta do is replace the stock resonnator with a cross pipe. I did something similar asmy very first mod on the 540 in 2001. Though, of course we don't need an x pipe with only the single exhaust.

This may follow as my first mod for the X. Just can't stand not to do the easy ones.

She's pretty and like you I've got the itch for a little more power. Probably do something before the end of the year if the gas prices don't get too crazy in the months ahead.
Good Luck!
