New 4.4i owner

Hello to all, I just purchased a 2004 Sterling Gray Metallic (I think) X5 4.4i with 53000 miles yesterday. This is my 3rd BMW. I had a 97 540i (hit by a kid on a cell phone) and a 90 318is. I traded in my 2010 Nissan Titan for this. I just missed the European luxury, I guess. I hope to get a couple of pictures up later if there are no posting restrictions on that. At the moment, I only plan to paint the kidneys and hood vents black and to add ipod capability. It has the non-DSP nav system with the cassette. I looked at a few threads to see what was being added for the ipod issue, are most of you using either the aux mod or the dice module? I'd prefer to be able to see song titles, etc. on the screen.

Welcome!

Yes, go for the dice, works great. I heard the new dice mediabridge system works well too.

Yes, I saw the mediabridge on crutchfield.com for $225. They also had another dice model with less features for $155. I don't use sat radio and only plan to plug in the ipod, so the less expensive model might work out best for me.

Ok, I've read a little more and I think it's settled that I will get the Dice setup. Do you have any good links to pictures of painted kidneys and the "vents" on the hood? I'm searching through some of the posts now.

Welcome! I also went from a Titan (06) to the X5. The X5 handles better (although the Titan wasn't a slouch) and I also prefer the X5 for towing. I pull just 5700 pounds, so the smaller vehicle is easier to maneuver and it also doesn't take up so much room in the garage.

Now with pics!

Yes, the Titan could get up and go when it wanted to, but you paid a big price for it. It never met a gas station that it didn't like, lol! Here are a couple of quick pics of my X:

Congrats on the X5 purchase. Well, our 4.4 is a little too friendly with gas stations as well. But, it's the price we pay for owning an X! Our M5 does a little better but not much!
