Spare Tire Question

When I purchased my 05 X5 4.4, it came with 255/55/18 all around, but the spare is a 17 inch, which I want to replace with the same as all the others. Question: will the 18 inch rim and full size tire fit in the spare tire compartment in the trunk?

Yes, the outside diameter of the tire will be the same (or is supposed to be) regardless of rim size.

The diameter is the same but the width is not. The 55 aspect tire is wider in section, and therefore, the floor will not sit flat. I wanted to do the same in mine, but it wasn't worth having the uneven floor. And guess what- I've never needed the spare anyway. Never been on the road!

^ There's really no point. The 17" spare will work if you ever need it. Drive on it until you can get your 18" repaired/replaced.
