I remember seeing a thread somewhere with step by step details. You can do a search. Also see my link above. This fellow sent me instructions with the ribbon that were almost identical to the thread. However, I would like to respect his efforts and not simply post it as part of the public domain.

I purchased a replacement cable and will be doing this fix over the weekend. I'll take pictures and try to write a DIY.

In my instance, the rubber strips contacting the ribbon cable were not putting enough pressure on the ribbon (Loss of elasticity with age?) which allows it to begin separating off the board. So, I cut strips of card stock into the shape of the rubber's contact surface, and fitted them into the recess underneath the rubber. Instant tension.

That did the trick here....

Yes, European fellow. The instructions are in English and, while not perfect, is far better than my command of whatever is the writer's native language.

Hello, how is it going?

I got the cluster out, got the front screen / cover off but can't figure out how to remove the main circuit board with all the gauges etc from the black back cover. I removed all the t-10 screws and it does not come off still....

Yes, Ribbon is the problem! I have fixed mine.

Did you take pictures? Specially I just need to know how you removed the lcd/ribbon part.

Did you remove the gauge needles or did you drill the front cover to access the t10 screws?

Did you remove the rear / black cover or left it on there, how does it come off?

Any tips on aligning the ribbon? Did you use a t-iron or pressure only?

Well, I brought to the guy who fixes it and it cost me 60$. I don't know how he didi what, but what I saw is he had front and back plastics took off and needles as well. wasn't there while he was doing ribbon part, but he didn't replace it, he fixed it! works perfect.

I found 3 hidden screws, but can't figure out where the forth one is
