I had a similar issue. I normally get about 12-14 city, and 19-21 on the highway. Ive gotten 22 on the highway if I go 70mph with cruise control on.
A few trips back, heading to Vermont, I was getting under 18mpg with cruise control on. I have made this drive many times, and I usually get 20+. I even reset the counter, thinking it might be off or whatever. The Fix: I got half way, stopped for gas, turned the car off, and back on, and started getting 20+. Not sure what it was. |

2001 X5 4.4, average for me is 15 city, 18 hwy. The kind of driving you do can lead to wet tail.....water build up in the cat converter.... Just maybe that might be a factor. Just an idea....might be stupid......I don't know for sure is what I am saying!

I once let my car sit for 20 min with the engine running and got 0mpg
![]() j/k...if you think there may be a problem hop on the highway and see what you are getting at a steady 60 or so for some time - only way to normalize it Vs. the opins from others as to what is 'average for city driving'. BTW, just got back from SOBE.....lotta fun as always but the liver still hurts from excess libations at the Fontainebleau/Delano/W/Shore club |
