Rear air right suspension deflates after parked

This is a X5 2002 4.4. Started doing it just today. After parked for few hours the rear right side is lower. When I OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR it just stars inflating it up. It happens in only one side (rear right). It drives ok, straight. Only happens when I leave it parked for a while. No warning codes. I need your help for a DIY repair. Thanks in advance.

You have a leak in your air bag most likely. Take some soapy solution in a spray bottle, spray the bag and watch for bubbles. For a DIY use the search function. Always use the search function, does wonders.

Check for leaks. If u have to replace the airbag do both. I have a brand new in box, unused genuine BMW pair of airbags. Pm me if interested, I can ship asap.

It's only a matter of time before this become a problem. I let this go for a few months, and everything was fine until one day (with a load of groceries in the back) it wouldn't pop back up. You CAN drive on the bump stops, but it is a harsh ride and probably effects your handling.

If you want to attempt to be frugal, you can try removing the affected air spring, and putting green tire slime (used for flat tires) in the air spring and see if it seals it. I tried it just for the hell of it as I was waiting for my coil springs to come in, and the X5 never went down again in that 1-2 week period. I'll never know if it would have been a permanent fix or not because I ended up installing the coil springs instead.

As for today, went to work in the morning and it was straight. Looks like it didn't leak overnite. Intermittant problem?

Thanks for the feedback

Did you check with soapy water? You are leaking air somewhere and you need to find it. Intermittent or not, it is not normal operation. Even if my X sits for 5 days with no batt connection, she stays up without a problem. Run the solution on the lines, the bags, and around the wheel well. She may be intermittent for now, but you are going to wake up one morning and the rear is going to sit on the frame. Then your ride is really going to suck.
