No ripping off in AUS :-) Here in AT I was quoted €600 for the remapping. Given the fact that he had my X on his testbench for several hours and he did a great job (look at the diagram and the torque I have now) I think it is a fair price.

Also not really saving fuel with my lady but enjoying the extra power.

Take care,

Helmuth

Remap

Thanks for the reassurance with what I was charged for the ecu tune, although I was quoted $2300AUD by one performance centre so $1750AUD isn't bad. The 3.0d still amazes me for a vehicle over 2 tonnes with excellent fuel economy and brutal torque its got all the bases covered.

I would appreciate any comments on whether this actually works and the gains one might notice

Hi X5H,
Sorry been away for a few days and just sent you PM with elaborate information.
As I said in the PM,I am bit like the company in Italy !I receive ECU files from some small car repair & maitenance companies and some individuals with equipment to read/write ecu files (remaps),I then alter the values to the required specification and send a "modded" file back ,to be loaded in ECU.
The prices that these companies and individuals will then charge, is anything from £200.00 to £350.00 (individuals will have practically no overheads, so will be cheaper! But sometimes its worth to pay extra to a small company as they will generally have more mechanical experience about your car, than an individual that just does maps).Furthermore , the files I supply to these companies, are crypted for security reasons.Turn around for this is 30-45 mins.
